If you are following the progress of Rhodes Gallery, I would love it if you would go visit http://rhodesgalleryandstudio.wordpress.com/ and follow us there instead. The name changed only slightly to better fit the gallery.
Have a great day….

Have a great day….
I came across some interesting tid-bits to helping you design and come up with your new businesses name.
I hope this list helps you in any business naming endeavors.
Making my to do lists from lighting fixtures to painting… wow is all I have to say. I know that everything happens for a reason and this wonderful opportunity has happened for a reason too. I’m so very excited about the studio space that will be for rent, I want to have classes for knitting and painting someday… and just setting up the studio and letting my creative mind have the outlet it deserves… Just awesome!!!
I am so bad at updating my blog on the weekends. It’s a very busy time for me. I just finished editing Andrea’s wedding. I will be signing the lease, hopefully getting the keys to the gallery and then off to the temporary offices to edit a bridal shower, a baby shower and real estate photography done for PRG Realty over the weekend.
One thing I really must work on is getting a coming soon sign up at the studio. Maybe I will put some letters up on the windows with the announcement. For starters, those FOR RENT signs must come down…
I will most likely be looking for a little help around the gallery, if anyone is willing to donate some time, I might need help with a little construction, painting, floor buffing… and maybe moving some heavy furniture. If you are interested, it would be appreciated.
I would also love to include some paintings at the Coffee Connection show and maybe some drawings… Let me know if you are interested in these fine art shows.

I can’t believe what a busy weekend it has been. I photographed a baby shower up in Middleton Ma, did a little editing, did a little more editing and now I’m going to go photograph some Real Estate.
But as far as progress goes with the gallery. I’m going on Monday to sign the lease, I’ve picked out the colors… Can’t wait to show you the before and afters. I’ve been putting a lot of thought into the retail side of the business and getting some essential oils and incense in the store. Nothing is concrete yet, but I’ve got my thought process flowing in the right direction.
I would love to see some quilts and other forms of art in the store as well… All in good time I suppose 🙂
Have a lovely day, enjoy this beautiful weather.
Call for Artists!!!
I am currently looking for artists, from near to far, from painters to photographer, sculptors to knitters.
The gallery projected opening is May 1st 2010.
The gallery stipulations are a 30/70 split, with 70% going toward the artists.
There is also a studio space in the back that is available for renting at only $25.00 hour, whether you need someone to pose for a painting you need to rent it for a few hours or someone is looking for baby portraits and you dont have studio space of your own.
There will also be a photographer on duty in most cases, please call ahead or come in to set up an appointment specifically with myself, Bonnie Carter, or with another photographer of your choice.
Happy Artistry!
Here is a before photo of the gallery. The address according to the town of Cumberland RI is 1407 Mendon Rd, Cumberland RI 02864, but the number is 1403 above the door. One question I will be asking when I meet with the landlord today to go over the details. I take it as a good sign that Diane’s Baskets had to move to a bigger location 🙂 hopefully this means oodles of success for my artists and my gallery.
First things first. Nicole’s salon is on the left and mine is on the right. She has painted her awning black, which I love, but I’m thinking of a two tone for Rhodose. I also have to work on a logo and signage…
I have the domain name… Another step down, of course there is building the site to coordinate with the business, feature the artists, link to relative vendors, get a shopping cart up and running…
OH MY!!! Any heroes out there?
The website domain is: http://www.RhodoseGallery.com
I’m putting a link on the blog site, so that as it develops you can see that too.
Happy Art!!!
After much consideration, after asking tons of friends and family, after turning down and coming up with and turning down some more, about a 1000 times over, I have finally come up with a name for the gallery.
I want to thank Greg Easton for coming up with “Rhodose Gallery” for the following reasons, and I quote:
“As for the gallery name, how about “Rhodose Gallery” as rhodose was the original name for cumberlandite, the official state rock found nowhere else on Earth but a small parcel in Cumberland, RI. ”
So on the awning and in any advertising it will be known, from this point forward as: Rhodose Gallery & Studio by Bonnie Carter.
